The MTA approved a budget plan Wednesday that could increase mass transit fares and tolls by 4% beginning in August 2025. The fare increase will be subjected to a public comment period and then voted on by the MTA board.
The move comes just weeks before the city’s congestion pricing plan is set to take effect that will charge drivers $9 to enter Manhattan south of 60th Street during peak weekday hours.
