Men arrested for firing gun at woman driving on Long Island

Nassau County Police press release – The First Squad reports the arrest of two individuals for an incident that occurred on Sunday, November 17, 2024 at 10:58 p.m. in East Meadow.

According to Detectives, there was a disturbance between the operators of two motor vehicles traveling north on Prospect Avenue. A female victim was driving a black Infiniti Q50 when a male operating a red Cadillac sedan aggressively changed lanes in front of the victim and fired approximately two rounds from what appeared to be a handgun, in the vicinity of Lancaster Street and Freeman Avenue, before fleeing the scene.

Officers conducted an investigation and the vehicle was located in front of 7-11, located at 525 Newbridge Road, East Meadow. Defendant Anthony Beltran, 33, of 56 Grant Avenue in Bethpage and John Messina, 45, of 2389 Garfield Street in North Bellmore were arrested without further incident. No injuries were reported. During the investigation, Officers recovered a loaded .25 caliber handgun, a switchblade, and a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine.

Defendant Beltran is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, three counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree.

Defendant John Messina is charged with Criminal Possession of a Weapon 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon 3rd Degree, Reckless Endangerment 1st Degree, Menacing 2nd Degree, five counts of Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 7th Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance 5th Degree, and Criminal Possession of Stolen Property 4th Degree. They will be arraigned on Monday, November 18, 2024 at First District Court, 99 Main Street Hempstead.
