Police on Long Island say they have arrested a man who is accused of driving while intoxicated after authorities say he crashed his SUV into a nail salon. The crash killed four people and injured nine others. Suffolk County Police said Saturday that Steven Schwally had been speeding through the parking lot when he drove his SUV through the front window of Hawaii Nail & Spa in Deer Park at around 4:30 p.m. Friday. Schwally was taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening.

Prosecutors say 64-year-old Steven Schwally was still drunk from having 18 beers the night before crashing his car into Hawaii Nail & Spa on Friday.
In court, prosecutors said prior to the crash, he nearly hit pedestrians near a Kohl’s in Deer Park, and accelerated in the opposite lane of traffic before his car went airborne and through the nail salon.
Schwally pleaded not guilty to DWI charges and was held on $1 million cash bail or $2 million bond.
