The New York City Council has approved the Willets Point redevelopment plan. The plan includes a 25,000-seat stadium near CitiField for Major League Soccer’s New York City Football Club.
The $780 million stadium, which will be privately financed is expected to be ready by 2027. It’s part of a major redevelopment plan for the area that also includes affordable housing, retail and open space.
