Many roads on the South Shore were flooded out Sunday Due to the heavy rain. A Police officer who was directing traffic around flooding on Sunrise Highway in Islip was injured when his car was hit by a commercial van. He was then taken to South Shore University Hospital in a helicopter. He suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.
