Yaphank, NY- Officials in Suffolk County are expected to announce plans Friday for a safer school year. Suffolk County Executive Steve Bellone and Police Commissioner Harrison will hold a press conference at 11am at Police Headquarters in Yaphank where they are expected to announced enhanced patrols around school speed zones and also encourage schools to enroll in an programs called S.H.A.R.E and RAVE. The S.H.A.R.E program allows police to view cameras inside schools in real time. Officials say the RAVE program helps police and first responders react and respond to active shooter events and other emergency situations.
