Central Islip, NY- The large wild cat that’s been spotted roaming on the South Shore in Suffolk County was captured Friday morning in Central Islip. Sources say police were able to corral the animal in the area of 90 Hawthorne Avenue around 4am and place it in a cage. The big cat was said to be transferred to the custody of Strong Island Animal Rescue who brought the animal to the Sweet Briar Nature Center in Smithtown. Sweet Briar Nature Center in Smithtown posted on their facebook page that the cat, identified as a Lynx would not be made visible to the public at this time.
