East Farmingdale, NY- It’s reminiscent of the early days of the coronavirus pandemic, as appointments for monekypox vaccines in New York City and on Long Island fill up, moments after going online. New York Governor Kathy Hochul announced Monday she expects another 33,000 dosages of the monkeypox vaccine to arrive from the federal government later this week, with the bulk of the doses, heading to vaccine clinics in New York City. In the United States, New York City continues to be the epicenter of the monkeypox outbreak. On Monday the New York State Department of Health said there were 618 confirmed cases of monkeypox in New York City, 16 in Westchester County, five in Suffolk County and three in Nassau County. Monkeypox can spread through contact with contaminated surfaces, bodily contact or respiratory droplets.
